PreK: Our English Language Learning Journey

Language learning is like climbing a mountain. To some, it may be discouraging because the top is so far away. To others, the journey is what makes it exciting.

Here in Kuei Shan Prek, the students start off their English language learning journey. For beginners, the alphabets are the foundation -- 26 letters, 21 consonants and 5 vowels, upper and lower case, need to know the name of the letters and the sounds that each of the letters represents, the list can keep on going! One might think it’s difficult and all work. Yet actually, the prek students are having loads of fun learning their alphabets. They do the alphabets with their body -- Body ABC!. They make the letters with stickers, shapes, or clay-- Letter Art! They hunt the letters in their surroundings -- Alphabet hunt! The students learn as they play, and play as they learn -- this is what play-based learning is.

And while they’re having fun learning, the top is closer bit by bit every time. Let’s go together!
