Grade 1 Nonfiction book Writing
As part of the Reading and Writing Workshop curriculum, our first graders explored the different features of informational texts or nonfiction books. They learned how expert writers use various strategies to make their nonfiction books interesting to readers, such as adding diagrams, labels, and photo captions. The students then applied their nonfiction writing skills in demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of how living things change through growth and natural cycles, which is their central idea under the transdisciplinary theme, How the world works.
