G4 Field Trip - Origins of Money

Money is a human-made system that helps value goods and services.

Grade 4 has recently returned from a field trip to Jiufen Gold Ore Museum to inquire into gold and how it was mined. Students had the opportunity to explore inside a mine and experience what it was like to mine gold a hundred years ago. Students also were able to experience gold panning for themselves and realize the difficulty in finding gold as well as the joy of finding some. Lastly, students used their prior knowledge and sought out answers to their questions inside the site's small museum before going upstairs to see the largest gold bar in Taiwan.
