SY106 PYP New Parents Workshop
This year’s PYP new parents’ workshop was held on a Saturday, October 21st, 2017 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM.
This workshop is in fulfillment of the IB requirement which is to ensure that the whole school community understands and supports the IB philosophy and pedagogical approach. Through this workshop, we believe that parents get a better grasp of PYP teaching and learning, and this equips them to be able to support and encourage their children through their inquiry learning journey.
This two-hour workshop provided an opportunity for new parents to actually experience how their children learn in an IB classroom through inquiry and collaboration – the “21st century learning.”
The workshop topics for SY106 were as follows:
Introduction to 21st Century Learning
The Scientific Method
Visible Thinking in Reading
Visible Thinking in Social Studies
Accessing Curriculum Info and ManageBac
We appreciate the parents for taking time out of their already busy schedule to come and learn with us. We had wonderful, engaging participants this year, contributing meaningful ideas and reflection to the group!
Three cheers for our 21st century parents!
