We are excited to share the incredible learning journey our classes have been experiencing during our recent guided reading block! We've been diving deep into our "Sharing the Planet" theme, connecting literacy skills with environmental awareness.
Literacy Stations Highlights
During our word work station, students used their dictionary skills to define vocabulary words such as climate change, global warming, and renewable energy. They also built smaller words out of bigger words such as pollution, natural resources, and conservation.
During our independent reading station, students explored a variety of non-fiction texts on a variety of topics including recycling, environmental protection, and pollution. They demonstrated their learning by creating “All About” posters and book reports and in turn developed their research and comprehension skills.
During our independent writing station, students wrote persuasive letters, environmental poems and informative writing about caring for the planet.
Through the integration of the “Sharing the Planet” theme into our literacy stations, students were able to enhance their literacy skills, increase their environmental awareness, and reflect on global issues. We're proud of our students' enthusiasm and creativity in connecting literacy with environmental education!
