G2 Where we are in place and time : Hakka Culture and Migration
For the unit “Where we were in place and time”, the Grade 2 class visited the Hakka Museum in Sanxia. There, they learned about the migration of the Hakka people throughout the years, and also some old traditions that have been kept through many generations. The students had a chance to make Mochi using the traditional method, and got to enjoy it at home. They also got the opportunity to play with traditional children toys such as walking sticks, Chinese yo-yo, and hula hoops. Finally the children learned some of the Hakka music while singing a traditional song and viewing old artifacts.
