Froebel Gifts: Form of Beauty
“There is beauty in symmetry.”
This was how we went about with our lessons on the form of beauty using the Gifts. In the beginning, we inquired on the characteristics of the Gifts that we will be using visual thinking routines such as CSI, See-Think-Wonder. Afterwards, we have mini-lessons on symmetry -- line and axial symmetry, making t-shirt artwork with dot stickers, stained glass design using shapes and getting it laminated, axial symmetry designs. We then connected the form of beauty with the form of life by designing symmetrical buildings, and asking the students on their design concept. Our new generation of designers are here!
福祿貝爾的恩物：美的形式
福祿貝爾學習三大基本知識形式之一為『美的形式』。
『在對稱裡，存在著美感。』
在課堂上，老師首先拿出福祿貝爾的恩物，並引導學生建立『看得見且摸得著的思維框架』。這套方法稱為『可視化思考慣例』。學生們透過眼睛觀察後，進而思考並提出問題。
之後，老師進行簡短關於對稱的課程，如線條與軸線的對稱、讓學生在印有t-shirt形狀的紙上點綴圓點貼紙、以玻璃紙與層壓法及對稱的軸線來設計彩繪玻璃。最後，師生結合『生活的形式』與『美的形式』兩種概念，來設計具有對稱性的建築物，並讓學生發表設計理念。
