Agape Love - Life Appreciation Show 2016

What a wonderful way to wrap up 2016! The theme for the show this year was “Agape Love.” Agape is the Greek work for God’s perfect, unending love. Our theme was accompanied by the Bible verses of John 15:9, 11, 12: “As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Now remain in My love. I have told you this so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: love each other as I have loved you.”

Our kindergarten class kicked off the event with Psalm 8 and leading the school in the show’s theme song: “Oh, the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus” along with volunteer dance leaders.

Fourth grade led the lower school in the production of “Agapaopolis” (meaning City of God’s love). In the story, a

boy named Christopher arrives in Agapaopolis in an attempt to find love to stuff into his suitcases and take back home with him. During his time there, he learns from his new friends that love is not something you can simply pack up and take with you. Love is something that can be found already inside of your heart and that love comes from God.

Second grade sang the songs “You’re in the Right Place!” and “Life Without Love.” Kindergarten sang “Rejoice, Rejoice!” Fourth grade sang “Love is Patient.” Grade three sang “Lookin’ Out for Good Old Number One” and “I Wanna Be Faithful.” Grade one sang “Do Good” and “Love Never Gives Up.”

The fifth graders prepared three songs to perform. Their first song was “That’s the Love of God” (originally sung by Sandi

Patty), followed by “The Love of God” (a classic hymn), and finally an upbeat number entitled “Love Can Turn the World.”

Both sixth grade classes prepared their own original stories about missionaries that shared the good news of God’s great love. Class 6-1 shared the story of Paul, the “original” missionary. The name of their performance was “Paving the Way – The Story of Paul.” Class 6-2 shared the story of George Mackay with their play, “Taiwan’s Black-Bearded Man – George Mackay.” Their creative storytelling involved a variety of costumes, set, sound effects, and script writing.

As always, we appreciate your ongoing support and encouragement of the students’ hard work! It was another special and spectacular celebration of God's gift of life!

Happy new year!
